Have you ever allowed the pace of life and the promises of the world to lead you from the passion of God?
Throughout life, I’ve pursued many things, most of which are attached to the promise of some reward. Stocks to secure my future, a house for steady shelter, and relationships to ease my emotions. Chasing hopes from losing weight to looking great, I’ve treasured things of this world more than I sought His kingdom. But what happens when circumstances change, and promises are broken? (Be sure to answer these 15 life assessment questions to determine your spiritual health.)
In a volatile world where spouses walk out, stock markets crumble, houses burn down, and friends betray, God’s Word is the only stable foundation that does not shift with time or circumstance. He does not crack under pressure, and His promises are ever true (Psalm 89:34). No matter how many promises God has made, they are “YES” in Christ (2 Corinthians 1:20).
When you and I take the stand to seek God first – His kingdom and His righteousness – a divine exchange takes place (Matthew 6:33). He replaces the heaviness of a worldly yoke ladened with striving and surviving. In committing to a pursuit of God, He promises we will find:
1.) Seek Him And Receive Rest
The greatest treasure of seeking the Lord is the promise that we find Him, and, in finding Him, we find rest for our weary souls. He is the source of rest because His yoke is easy, and His burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30).
- “I love those who love me, and those who diligently seek me will find me. Proverbs 8:17
- But from there, you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul. Deuteronomy 4:29
- So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. Luke 11:9-10
- ‘You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13
2.) Seeking God Gives You Life
The same God who created life is trustworthy with your life. He came so that you might live abundantly. Seeking God ignites the eternity He placed in every heart and sets our mind on eternal things. While the world says, seek fulfillment to find life, God’s word says in seeking Him, you will fulfill your life.
- For thus says the LORD to the house of Israel, “Seek Me that you may live. Amos 5:4-6
- The poor will eat and be satisfied; those who seek the Lord will praise him—may your hearts live forever! Psalm 22:26
- The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God. Psalm 69:32
3.) Those Who Seek God Find Strength
His strength is limitless. When our knees become weak from pressure and our hands tremble with fear, He strengthens and steadies our way. It’s in those lowest moments where His strength shines the brightest. Here we mount wings of eagles to soar above the earthly circumstances, to run and not grow weary (Isaiah 40:31).
- For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. 2 Chronicles 16:9
- Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face continually. 1 Chronicles 16:11
- Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. Psalm 105:3-4
4.) Seeking God Fills You With Joy & Gladness
Joy is found in giving the Master the keys to your heart. Sitting in the presence of Him, who is more precious than gold and sweeter than honey. He revives our souls, gives light to our eyes, and overflowing joy to our hearts. With everlasting joy to crown your head, gladness will overtake you, and sorrow and sighing will flee away (Isaiah 35:10).
- Let the heart of those who seek the Lord be glad. 1 Chronicles 16:10
- Let all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; Let those who love Your salvation say continually, “The LORD be magnified!” Psalm 40:16
- But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you may those who long for your saving help always say, “The Lord is great!” Psalm 70:4
5.) Choosing To Seek God Leads To Deliverance
God has never forsaken those who diligently seek Him. Those who trust in Him will never be abandoned (Psalm 9:10). He is a fortified tower of safety for all who run to Him (Proverbs 18:10).
- I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. Psalm 34:4-5
- The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them. Psalm 145:18-20
- Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness, and broke away their chains. Psalms 107:13-14
6.) Discernment, Understanding, & Wisdom Comes To Those Who Seek Him
As we commit to seeking God first, His wisdom and understanding pour over us with true freedom to follow His plan and purpose for our lives. And the foolishness of God is wiser than all human wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:25). From His throne flows the discernment to live every day to the fullest, making the most of every opportunity (Ephesians 5:15-16).
- Evil men do not understand justice, But those who seek the LORD understand all things. Proverbs 28:5
- Indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. Proverbs 2:3-6
- Seek His will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:6

7.) Seeking God Infuses Hope
Time in God’s presence renews endurance to run the race ahead, a longing to see His kingdom come, and an expectancy to see Him move here on earth. Because He cares for you, you can cast all your apprehension on Him and receive a restored hope for the future.
- This I recall to my mind; therefore I have hope. Through the Lord’s mercies, we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!” The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. Lamentation 3:21-25
- Then you will know that I am the Lord; those who hope in me will not be disappointed.” Isaiah 49:23

Grab these memory verse cards for you or someone you know who needs the promises of seeking God and step into His shelter as you seek Him with all your heart, mind, and soul!
8.) Those Who Seek Him Are Rewarded, Lacking No Good Thing
Any sacrifice you make in seeking God is rewarded by the One who owns it all (Psalm 24:1). Though it may look different than you expect, Jesus promises no one who leaves earthly things in pursuit of Him will fail to receive as much in the present age and the age to come (Mark 10:28-30).
- The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. Psalm 34:10
- And without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. Hebrews 11:6
- The LORD is good to them that wait for him, to the soul that seeks him. Lamentations 3:25
- How blessed are those who observe His testimonies, who seek Him with all their heart? Psalm 119:2
9.) Seeking God’s Kingdom Leads to Righteousness
Through Christ, we are declared righteous; however, living a virtuous life – daily – does not come easy. By seeking God, we can walk in the Spirit and not gratify the flesh’s desires (Galatians 5:16). We become like those with whom we spend time. Because apart from Him, we cannot produce a righteous life (John 15:5).
- Sow with a view to righteousness, Reap in accordance with kindness; Break up your fallow ground, For it is time to seek the LORD Until He comes to rain righteousness on you. Hosea 10:12
- They will receive blessing from the Lord and vindication from God their Savior. Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek your face, God of Jacob. Psalm 24:5-6
- I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. Psalm 119:10
10.) Satisfaction Is Found In Seeking God
In a world full of options and the desire for more, it’s easy to become discontent with our lives. The steadfast pursuit of seeking God first is the only source of true satisfaction. He satisfies the hungry, longing soul with good things (Psalm 107:9) and promises that all who come to Him will not hunger or thirst (John 6:35).
- O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and weary land where there is no water. Psalm 63:1
- One thing I have asked from the LORD, that I shall seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD And to meditate in His temple. For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle; In the secret place of His tent, He will hide me; He will lift me up on a rock. Psalm 27:4-5
In Matthew 13:44, Jesus tells a parable about a field with a hidden treasure. Filled with joy, the man who stumbled upon it sold everything he had to buy the field. His Kingdom is the treasure worth shoving everything aside to pursue. Let’s chase Him like the treasure He is, knowing our hearts will follow (Matthew 6:21) and watch these promises come to life.

When one seeks His face, he is going to catch God’s eyes, ears to be heard, shoulder where his yoke’s will be rested. God’s face is a full package where one will be answered. Reading through your article helped me to realize seeking His face is actually all I needed.
God bless you,
Haileye from Ethiopia
Amen, Haileyesus!! When we seek Him, we find all of Him!!!
I am in the middle of a bad break up with my wife on three weeks now. And I have been studying the word deeply. I have been humbling myself before God. Newish there was some way to get this message to her. It was very uplifting. I have just started my studies on seeking and have been studying. Trusting. God. I can’t send this to her because she is completely hard hearted right now but I pray she comes across it which she probably won’t because she is not seeking God. If you get this please pray for me and my wife. My name is Casey and her name is Anna
Casey, I am beyond sorry to hear you’re going through this season right now! I am praying God ministers to your heart as well as to your wife’s. Hold on tight to Him; you will see His faithfulness!
Mom I’ve enjoyed this sermon. It has really touched my life. I’m going to share this at my local church. May God continue using you.
Proverbs 18:22 says he who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord. I pray that God the maker of all, will in this instant minister unto the heart of Anna (Casey’s wife) and bring her to that point of reconciliation with her husband. I pray that favor of God will not diminish in your life as you seek out your wife in prayers. God’s ministering angels will locate her and work out peace in your marriage. There shall be restoration of Joy and love with respect for each other once again in your home and lives. Amen.
Amen, Kemi! Thank you for praying over them!
Really good message i have learnt alot from you
Casey may I recommend a book to you. Title: Lord, Change Me. By Evelyn Christiansen. Be blessed.

Thank you Esther for a beautiful clarification on seeking God, most of us we loose Gods promises just because we don’t do what he ask of us, seek first the kingdom of God and it’s righteousness and all shall be added unto you. Am so blessed may almighty God give you more wisdom to Continue the good work. Am so much touched 🙇🏽♀️🙇🏽♀️🙇🏽♀️
You’re so welcome, Brenda! You’re so right in that we lose all the things “that shall be added to us” because we don’t seek His kingdom first. Thank you for the blessing, friend!
