“It is written.”
Three powerful words the Savior of the world used to defeat the enemy. Ezekial told the dry bones to “hear the word of the Lord!” Christ’s powerful word brought the dead (more than dead, rotting) Lazarus back to life. These are just a few examples in the Bible of using God’s word to overcome darkness, raise dead things to life, and breathe hope into situations.
But it’s one thing to know God’s word and something completely different to use the sword of God’s word. When we decide to stand on and profess His word in our lives, we are broadcasting our faith in the One who said it. As the Hebrew writer emphasized, “By faith, we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.” Hebrews 11:3
It is through God’s written word that we become familiar with the Author, learn to trust the Maker’s abilities, and stand firm on His promises even when we don’t see them coming to fruition.

- Monday – Long after we close our book of life here on earth, God’s spoken word will still be fulfilling its purpose. This should give us secure confidence in our prayers. By declaring God’s word in our prayers, we are incorporating His eternal power. Find one verse and incorporate it into your prayer life.
- The grass withers, and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever. Isaiah 40:8
- Tuesday – His word has the power to keep us from wrong paths and provides a great reward for those who stand on it. In the verse below, circle all the attributes of God’s word and underline the benefits. Using these two areas, make it into a prayer of praise and gratitude.
- The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes. The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the Lord are sure and altogether righteous. Psalm 19:7-9
- Wednesday – Nothing in all creation can stop God’s word from being fulfilled, which means that nothing we have done or will do can hinder His directives. We don’t have that power. Where have you limited God’s word because of something you’ve done? Ask Him to change your perspective.
- So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:11
- Thursday – Because God’s word is alive and active, judging the thoughts and attitudes of the heart, only when we allow His word to change us on the inside can we be equipped to change the outside world. Change this verse into a prayer over your life.
- All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man (or woman) of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16
- Friday – All things are held together by the force and authority of His powerful word. If you feel an area of your life is falling apart, be assured it is still in the palm of His hand. Ask God to sustain your thoughts, hopes, and desires over this area.
- The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. Hebrews 1:3
