From renewing your mind and overcoming fearful thoughts to breathing life into your prayers and declaring freedom for loved ones, Scripture is the most powerful tool in your Christian toolbelt. Today, I want to share with you a quick way to create a Scripture memory verse journal and three different ways to use it in your daily walk. If you’d like to learn more about how to memorize Scripture, be sure to check out the step-by-step guide memorizing Scripture.
For this, you will need a few supplies, most of which are available at your local Dollar Store. I’ve created a short video showing you all of the items in use, so let’s get started!
Items Needed To Create A Scripture Memory Verse Journal
- Index cards
- Scrapbook/cardstock paper
- Hole punch
- Ring clips
- Repositionable tabs
1 | SET UP YOUR SCRIPTURE MEMORY JOURNAL WITH GO TO BIBLE VERSES
The first way you can establish your memory journal is based on your go-to verses. These are the areas you find yourself in need of fear and anxiety, healing, or want an extra dose of faith-building trust. Simply set up your journal with tabs for these areas. Then, find your battle-shield verses, write them under the tab, and flip to them when needed. The great thing about the repositionable tabs is you can move them around if you need a few extra pages in one particular area.
2 | SET UP YOUR SCRIPTURE MEMORY JOURNAL FOR FAMILY MEMBERS
What better way to pray for your loved ones than to infuse the power of God’s word. With this approach, you have two options (I’m sure there’s more, but I’m only sharing two :-)) Start by creating a section for each person. Once you have a section for each loved one, you can arrange it one of two ways:
- Days of the week. This format leads you through praying over a specific area on specific days for particular people. Under each named tab, assign an index card for the days of the week and jot down the Bible verses you plan on praying for that person on that day. This method is a great way to keep you on course. Even if you miss a day, you know exactly where to pick up.
- Areas of need. If you would prefer to focus on an area of need, add an index card for each area and write down the relevant verses.
Here’s a post if you’d like more on how to create a prayer strategy for you or your loved ones. You might also benefit from the free bible study on learning how to pray.
3 | SET UP YOUR SCRIPTURE MEMORY JOURNAL FOR THE DAYS OF THE WEEK
The final way to create a memory journal is to arrange the tabs based on the days of the week you plan on memorizing Scripture (Monday through Friday or Sunday through Saturday). The key is to determine how many days you plan on memorizing verses. Because you are concentrating on a verse a day, this is a viable way to deposit God’s word in your heart. Another benefit of this method is the ability to review and refresh previously memorized verses. Keep them sharp!
It’s as simple as that! Three ways to use and infuse God’s word into your daily life.
I hope this video has helped you in setting up and using a Scripture memory verse to hide God’s word in your heart. I’d love to hear the creative ways you use your portable memory journals!
