When did I become …
Whether we realize it or not, we are all becoming something – rather, someone. Who that is, depends on many things such as time investment, goals, relationships, etc. Today’s freebie is a prayer I wrote several years back after a life-altering event in my life. Left with much regret, my greatest desire was a life lived to the fullest – not a single day of it wasted. Saturated with Scripture, I pray it fills you with the hope and reminds you of His great plans and purposes for your life. I have also prayed this prayer for loved ones.
Father of heavenly lights,
I know your will for my life is to seek you in all things and live a grateful life regardless of the circumstances (1 Thess 5:16-18). My heart’s desire is to seek you in the area of ___________. If this is your desire and not mine, show me. I desire to test everything, holding on to what is good and avoiding what is not (1 Thess 5:21). Direct my heart into your love; a love that chases after your lost world and anchored in Christ’s perseverance (2 Thess 3:5). Gift me with the ability to never tire of doing what is right (2 Thess 3:13). You are my focus and your work, my delight. As I set my heart and mind on things above, fill me with a craving for your Kingdom’s work – work I was born for (Col 3:1-2). Guide me in obedience and make my steps firm as I lean on you for answers (Prov 3:5). Teach me to know your ways as I walk in your truth (Psalm 32:8). Give me an undivided heart that I may fear your name (Psalm 86:11). Your word says where there is no vision, the people perish (Proverbs 29:18). Give me a vision for your work, specifically ____________. Let my life be refreshing for others and therefore be refreshed myself (Prov 11:25). You have anointed me to proclaim your good news to the poor, freedom to the prisoners, and declare the year of your favor (Isaiah 61:1). By your power, may I fulfill every good purpose prompted by you (2 Thess 1:11). Equip me with everything needed for doing your will, and work in me whatever is pleasing to you, through my Savior (Hebrews 13:21). Purify my heart from anything that contaminates my walk with you (2 Cor 7:1). Whatever I do whether word or deed, let my life represent you – my King – to the world around me (2 Cor 5:20).
I pray this through the Author and Perfector of my life, Jesus Christ!

Thank you, Gayl!! Blessings to you too!
I love how your prayer is full of scripture. Amen and amen.
Thank you so much, Amy!
Esther, this is a very direct and powerful prayer! I particularly like the role obedience plays in our ability to fulfill our life’s purpose. So much of our calling involves being willing to trust enough to walk in obedience to God’s heart for us.
Yes and amen, Crystal!! Our calling relies on trusting that the One who calls us is faithful. His trustworthiness allows us to walk in full obedience. Thank you for stopping by!!
